Project BEHAVIOR CHANGE PROJECT

WRITING YOUR REPORT

KINS 1902 – FALL 2021

•Now that you’ve completed your behavior change, it is time to
write your report

•There is a example report for you to use as a model for your
report.

•The example report can be found in Canvas on both modules for
Week 13 and Week 14.

•The rest of this presentation explains what is in the example
report.

WRITING THE REPORT

TITLE PAGE

•The first page of your report is your title page:

Title of Your Project

Your Name

KINS 1902

Semester: Fall 2021

Instructor: Jessica Gillaspy

SECOND PAGE

• The title is repeated at the top of the second page.

• Your report starts with an introduction:

Introduction

Example:

I chose to do my behavior change project on getting fit. This past year was

brutal, being isolated and not being able to get out and do much of

anything. I decided to start an exercise routine to help get into shape and

to help meet people with similar goals. My plan is to start going to Fit and

Rec to use different types of equipment and go to some of the organized

group exercise classes they offer. This report is all about my fitness

journey.

INCLUDE ALL HEADERS FROM THE EXAMPLE

Project Report

1.Basic Background Information on Your Topic: State the topic you chose.

a. Problem Statement:

Example from the contract:

I have very little energy during the middle of the day, and have trouble

staying alert during my classes and my job. I believe the behavior influencing

this problem is that I don’t get enough consistent, rigorous exercise. In order

to address this problem, I plan to do a total of 120 minutes of aerobic

activity every week.

b. Background Research:

This is where you discuss your research.

An example of how that should be written follows:

My goal was to increase the amount of exercise I participate in,

but I wasn’t sure how much I should be doing, and what would

be a good activity. To determine what kind of activity to

participate in and how much activity I should be doing, I

reviewed some information from the Centers for Disease Control

and Prevention (2021) and the recommendation was…

c. Personal and/or Social Benefits:

This is where you describe the benefits you experienced from

changing this behavior. You can discuss the personal benefits

and/or the social benefits. The social benefits could be how you

have become more social or socially aware, or how you’ve

realized how society as a whole might benefit from more people

participating in the same particular behavior.

d. Barriers that made it difficult to change:

This can be taken right from the contract you filled out at the

beginning of the change.

Example from your contract:

I don’t have enough time to exercise, with all my classes and

course assignments. I came up with a solution I identified before I

started this project. The solution was that instead of spending an

hour eating lunch at the student center, I planned to exercise for

half an hour at the TWU Wellness Center, and bring some nutritious

snacks to eat after I finished exercising before I go to my next

class. This was an excellent choice of time, although it didn’t

always work. It did work, however the majority of the time.

WRITING THE REPORT SUMMARY
2. Summary

On the Report Example Template, the last part of the report is a Summary

Things to include in your Summary:

a. What specific things did you measure and keep track of over the many weeks of your

wellness project?

b. Early on, were there any changes you made to your goals? Why?

c. What were the results/outcomes of your Wellness Project?

d. What challenges did you face along the way? How did you address these

challenges?

e. Do you plan to continue to work on this topic in the future (as indicated by your

post week chart)?

f. Choose a new behavior change project that you would like to implement in the

future.
