Memorial Hermann Health System.

I am going with Memorial Hermann Health System as my choice for a health care organization. Not only do I work for them, but my family and I get our health care with them as well. Memorial Hermann Health System is the largest not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas. It has 14 hospitals, 27 sports medicine and rehabilitation centers, 3 heart & vascular institutes, 8 cancer centers and 34 free standing clinics around the Houston area. The hospital located in the Texas Medical Center is known as one of the nation’s busiest Level I trauma centers. That same location is also the primary teaching hospital for McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. It is also known for its outstanding Children’s Hospital which I had a true connection with back in 2016, on a personal level. Their TIRR programs, Cardiac Centers, IRONMAN, Neuro Center and Red Duke Trauma Institute are a few of their award winning centers. It has 5 Convenient Care Centers that provides emergency health care without the big ER wait.

Memorial Hermann is an award-winning and nationally acclaimed Accountable Care Organization, it has been listed in U.S. News for many of its services and named as one of the Nations top hospitals to work over seven times.

2. Outline the overall content of the major regulations, accreditation requirements, and other standards that affect the organization. Effects on Risk Management

Patient Safety – Proper tools and training are provided to the employees and medical staff so safe care can be provided.

Standards – Memorial Hermann compares and measures their performance measures against other hospitals to make sure they are providing the best clinical care to their patients. Memorial Hermann executives track data that demonstrates ongoing process reliability every day, in real time. This is done so they can continue to provide a safe atmosphere for the patients and financial stability for the organization.

Organizational Performance Management Systems

Memorial Hermann has their own set of policies and procedures that employees, medical staff, contractors, and vendors need to follow. They also follow all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

According to “Memorial Hermann” (2022) “At Memorial Hermann, safety is everyone’s responsibility. To recognize high-reliability behavior, we created the Memorial Hermann High Reliability Certified Zero Award for hospitals that go 12 consecutive months or longer without preventable adverse events in federally defined categories. We call the award “certified” because these results are formally certified in monthly reports to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Since the program started in 2011, Memorial Hermann hospitals have earned more than 339 Certified Zero Awards for avoiding hospital-acquired infections and other conditions.” (Cultural Reinforcement and Transformation)
